A respected and sought-after lecturer and CEO advisor on entrepreneurship, leadership, and business-building strategies, Stratus Dental Group CEO Brandon Dawson specializes in creating value for businesses operating in industries with poor single- or multi-unit economies of scale, industry consolidation, or increasing large-scale competition.
Brandon believes that people move businesses, and therefore is dedicated to helping his clients, colleagues, and employees achieve their personal, professional, and financial goals.
As the founder of Audigy Group, Brandon grew the company from $500,000 in revenue in 2005 to approximately $35 million in 2016, when he sold it for $151 million—77 times earnings—on the basis of its model for fast, scalable business growth, which incorporates unique business operations methodologies, technology platforms, and leadership and performance development programs. Created by Brandon using $500,000 of self-funded startup capital, Audigy managed more than 650 locations, employed 180 full-time staff, and generated $300 million in aggregate revenue by 2016. At the closing of the sale, Brandon allocated millions of dollars to be shared by every employee and partner of Audigy Group.
The Portland Business Journal honored Audigy as one of its Fastest Growing Private Companies for six consecutive years. Inc. chose Audigy five times as a member of the Inc. 500 and Inc. 5000; twice as a winner of the Inc. Hire Power Award for outstanding success in job creation; and twice as one of the Top 100 Places to Work. Brandon has twice been named a finalist for Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the Pacific Northwest.
Recognizing similar opportunities in the dental marketplace, Brandon founded Stratus Dental Group, which offers management shared services to dental business across the US. At the age of 28, Brandon listed Sonus Corporation and rang the Opening Bell on the American Stock Exchange, as the founder of Sonus. He served as its CEO for seven years, raising $38 million in four equity transactions and $20 million in strategic debt financing. He acquired over 100 businesses, creating the Sonus Network of over 1,000 locations. In addition to these accomplishments, Brandon has identified and negotiated approximately $100 million in a variety of real estate and other financial transactions as a partner, principal, and representative.
Chief Financial Officer
Michael M. Halloran joined Audigy in late 2014. Prior to this, he was with Action Target from March 2011 as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He has also served as Corporate Controller, Vice President, and Chief Financial Officer at Otix Global, Inc.
Mike began his career at Ernst & Young in their New York Metro region, where he worked from 1985 to 1994, rising to Senior Audit Manager. From 1994 to 1999, he held various senior positions at C.R. Bard, a large medical device company, based in New Jersey. He has earned a Certified Public Accountant licensure and a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with a concentration in accounting, from State University of New York at Oswego.
Executive Director, Partner
Since making Audigy’s first outbound call as its first employee in 2004, Mason’s influence has grown along with the organization’s rapid industry growth.
His leadership, his passion, his loyalty, his deep operational expertise in the private hearing care space, and his fundamental understanding of and operating vision for the organization led to his appointment as president of Audigy in 2011. He has served Audigy in that role ever since.
His skill and enthusiasm for building and growing businesses has made him instrumental in building — and now serving in key roles for — Stratus as well as Audigy’s numerous vertical ventures. He serves as Executive Director of Stratus Dental Group; president of Audigy Medical, an ENT- and otology-based management company founded in 2012; and president of Audigy Venture Group, a company founded in 2014 that shepherds private-practice hearing care providers through exit options and practice expansions.
Among the many awards Mason has received, he was a recipient of the 2015 Portland Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40 Award.
DR. PAUL HOMOLY
Chief Dental Officer
Dr. Paul Homoly practiced reconstructive dentistry from 1975 to 1995. He founded Homoly Communications Institute in 1986 and since has served as a thought leader and speaker world-wide.
Paul has collaborated with Stratus Dental Group since 2015 as its Chief Dental Officer, focusing on content development, coaching internal teams, and guiding dentists to practice high quality dentistry profitably.
Director of Operational Development
Natalie Workman joined Stratus Dental Group in May of 2014 as the Director of Human Resources and Cultural Integration. Natalie grew and led a team of Human Resource Managers, whose success was built on improving the Stratus Members' employee engagement and ensuring their mission, values and business goals were both shared and aligned.
With a passion for leadership, communication, and process optimization with measurable returns on investment, Natalie’s ability to identify and execute strategic business priorities led to her promotion to the Director of Organizational Development, responsible for operational strategy, internal leadership development, organizational change management, and corresponding budgets across the enterprise.
Prior to her work with Stratus Dental Group, Natalie joined Audigy Group as an intern in June of 2011 and within two years was promoted to a newly created role of Leadership Development Manager, where she successfully operationalized an enterprise-wide, recurring Leadership Bootcamp program for both internal employees and Audigy Members. While at Audigy, she maximized organizational resources to better serve Members by re-engineering business processes, service delivery, and informational systems into the trademarked Transformational Growth process.
The foundation for Natalie’s ability to execute is her desire to continually apply her insights gained through both her work experience and formal education. Her studies at University of Portland, from 2011-2013, were focused on Economics and Social Justice. She then grew her understanding of Organizational Development at the London School of Economics in 2015-2016.
In addition to her thriving career at Stratus Dental Group, Natalie loves experiencing new cultures through travel, assessing and pursuing entrepreneurial opportunities, and living in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
Executive Vice President and General Counsel
Jeff contributes to Stratus’ vision and strategy and navigates Stratus through the complex legal and regulatory milieu in which it operates. Jeff leads internal teams, outside counsel, and service providers on projects that support Members’ growth, development, and satisfaction.
He also proactively manages and mitigates risk and ensures Stratus’ compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Jeff looks forward to coming to work in the morning because the team at Stratus inspires him to be his best, and he is proud to support the Members as they implement Stratus’ recommendations to achieve their goals.
Jeff’s experience in successfully leading teams in extremely difficult and demanding environments makes him a valuable asset to Stratus and its Members. After college, Jeff worked at Morgan Stanley as a Financial Analyst in the Global Technology Group of the Investment Banking Division. In 2003, Jeff enlisted in the United State Army and, after graduating from Officer Candidate School, was commissioned as an Infantry Officer. Jeff graduated from Ranger School, Airborne School, and Air Assault School, and he served a 15-month tour of duty in Iraq from August 2006 to November 2007. After Jeff resigned his commission, he matriculated at Stanford Law School. Prior to joining Stratus, Jeff’s legal practice focused on representing clients in commercial disputes. Jeff litigated numerous cases in state and federal court, where he achieved great results for his clients. He also represented clients in alternative dispute resolution, such as mediation and arbitration. From these experiences, Jeff developed an unwavering commitment to excellence, a keen attention to detail, and strong leadership skills.
When Jeff is not working, he loves camping, hiking, dining out, and going to playgrounds with his spouse and their two kids. Jeff also enjoys snowboarding, reading, playing poker, going to the movies, and trying to play golf.
Director of Business Development
As Director of Business Development, Heather leads multiple teams that provide direct support to Stratus Members. Her leadership style combines a keen eye for the big picture, a strategic mindset, and a deep belief that the best way to achieve goals is by creating an empowering environment, engaging teams, and fostering collaboration.
She is passionate about using these skills to help dental organizations attain their highest potential by reaching patients and improving their health and quality of life.
Heather brings a wealth of experience in adult learning and content development to ensure that Stratus’ training offerings engage learners, support Members’ long-term goals, and provide a positive financial impact on their businesses. She also guides the development and implementation of digital and traditional marketing strategies that drive patient flow and oversees human resources activities as they pertain to performance coaching and compliance consulting.
Prior to joining the Stratus team, Heather worked at its sister company, Audigy Group, for eight years, as a Senior Professional Development Manager, Senior Program Manager, and the Director of Content Services.
Outside of work, Heather is a dog-mom to a sweet Boxer, a die-hard sushi lover, and an avid sports fan. Her teams are the Seattle Seahawks and the Boston Red Sox.
Director of Operations
Rich Hartigan started working at Stratus Dental in 2013 as an Operations Manager. Over the past three years, he has risen into his current role as Director of Operations by providing great customer service to Members and by demonstrating the drive to take on additional projects—and delivering results.
He believes there is no substitute for hard work, and that the proof is always in the pudding.
Rich loves to work at Stratus, because he is surrounded by incredibly talented people who are creating innovative solutions to help Members grow and develop their businesses beyond what they thought was possible.
Prior to joining Stratus, Rich was the Director of Admissions for the Art Institute of Portland in Portland, Oregon. While there, he managed all recruitment efforts for the school and considered it a privilege to work with astonishingly creative people on a daily basis.
Outside of work, Rich loves to cook top-notch barbecue for his friends and family. When he isn’t barbecuing, he loves to go camping and mountain biking with his wife and daughter. With so many great places for both in the Pacific Northwest, he already knows how he’ll be keeping busy for the rest of his life.
